Hello I am flying from Frankfurt via Addis Ababa to Mombasa on 26 July. I have booked via a website and it says I have to pick up my luggage in Addis Ababa and check in again. Do I have to leave the transit area and do I need a visa for Ethiopia? I fly both times with Ethiopianairline and land in Terminal 2 and also continue my flight in Terminal 2. Do I need a visa as I am Swiss. I would be very grateful for an answer as soon as possible.

Ladies and Gentlemen. We are a travel agency in Zurich and have many customers travelling to Ethiopia. Many customers have this blue refugee passport but also Eritrean passports, among others. We can apply for a visa for this blue travel document without any problems. For the Eritrean passport we only receive a confirmation of payment but no visa. Despite this confirmation of payment, many customers are turned away again at the airport because they believe that they are not allowed to fly without a visa. It is always such a big problem with these visas. I would therefore ask you to give us feedback in writing.
